The Good:

F@%k yeah. Christmas week and I still dropped 0.5kg! While, on the face of it, 0.5kg is not a huge number, the fact that I was able to control my calorie intake well enough, even with end of year drinks, Christmas Eve Family Dinner (Traditional fish and chips) and Christmas Day Lunch (4 courses of fantastic food). I am ecstatic with where my number was for this, the last measurement of the first month of the B52. Smashed it!

The Bad:

As above, drinks with workmates, and the gorge fest that was Christmas was not great on the diet. While there was a lot of very bad food for you available, I made smart choices with meals and accompaniments, and didn’t go back for seconds. I listened to my body for follow up meal times and only ate if I really felt I needed it.

The Ugly:

Two words - Passionfruit Flummery. It is a once a year treat that my Mother in Law makes especially for me and I love it. Deliciously fruity and light, I do admit I went back for seconds on Christmas day for this desert.

The Conclusion:

First month down and the first milestone weigh in and I am 2.3kg under plan which is a great spot to be. I have lost weight each of the 4 weeks, even over silly season which has been a great motivator. I have added the results below for interest.

Next month I will start back with walking and weights – easy at first as I want to know how my body will react with my diet. Can’t wait to check in next week!

The Good:

Well, this week I have found that I can get straight back on track after a massive night out. We had out Christmas party on Friday night, I planned out my meals of having a larger lunch (satay chicken and rice) and then planned on minimal eating while drinking. I stuck to my guns (actually wasn't hungry) and avoided the Pizza, fired chicken and other things put out through the night. After the breakfast the next day, things were back on track resulting in a 1.8kg loss for the week!

The Bad:

The morning after. The term dusty does not describe adequately enough how i felt. I think my choice to not load up on bad food while drinking triggered a more aggressive than usual hangover. It did however disappear quite quickly once i ate some food. As i had to drive from Canberra to Sydney, the choices were limited, so i opted for KFC. All food tracked and a lazy 20 odd units over on the indulgences. I managed to not let that increase through the rest of the week which was a plus.

The Ugly:

The Party - i think i had 12-15 drinks ranging from beer to whiskey to whatever got handed to me. It is a once a year event, however, at 39, i think i need to ease off on these ones.

The Conclusion:

While the week started in a bad way, i am very happy at how quickly i was able to get back on track with things. Historically nights like that would have turned into "write-off" weekends, which would have lead through to Christmas and New Years itself. I don't have the urge to fall off the rails, and the B52 penalties should stop me even if i did...

The Good

Alright, 2 weeks in and feeling good. Weigh in will happen first thing tomorrow morning and will be captured in the graph. I feel i am trending the right direction, so no curve balls expected. I am definitely in the swing of things as far as eating goes, not struggling with hunger at all. Didn't have any alcohol this week (which will be broken for next week at the work Christmas party) which was easy done. Over all an easy week.

The Bad

Strayed a little on Sunday at my Mum's birthday lunch. They were not aware of the B52 and bought the normal food for a family BBQ, namely sausages, chevapi and pork with garden salad and potato bake. I cooked the BBQ to minimise the amount of oil retained (using the open grill etc), however there is only so much you can do.

I tried my best to just stick to pork and salad, limiting the sausage, chevapi and potato bake, however my 10yo niece made the potato bake and asked if i could have some, so i passed my plate for a "small serve". Well my family doesn't do anything small, and with 1/4 of a plate full of creamy, cheesy, potato goodness, it did not last long. I also have a weakness for chevapi, so a few of them went as well along with a genuinely small serve of the birthday cheesecake. The positive, tracked all of the food in the tracker, which ate up my weekly allocation of "Treats" which when i managed the rest of the week only increased by 0.6 portions (courtesy of a Chicken Caesar Salad with no dressing for lunch on Monday).

On the drive home from Mum's, it was noticeable how much i wanted to eat more bad food - I was full, but for about an hour / hour and a half afterwards i really wanted to get chocolate, or go for a pork knuckle or anything greasy. I distracted myself with things around the house, and when it passed i was not hungry and ended up having a very light dinner that night.

The Ugly

Nothing really bad this week. Overall I am very happy with myself.

The Conclusion

Have included this weeks food allocation for interest. Protein and Veggies are high / on target, rest is a lot more balanced and closer to target. Hopefully keep trending this way.
